"They found both Mary and Joseph, and the baby was lying in the manger." Luke 2:16
Do you ever wonder what the conversations the shepherds had were like after the angels left them? Maybe they ran as they headed straight to Bethlehem, pausing now and then to ask: "what just happened?", "did the angel really say Savior for all people?", "are we really leaving our livelihood to see a baby?" Aside from the familiar animal sounds and stable odors, the shepherds must have been in awe at what they saw! I imagine them falling to their knees and thanking God for the privilege of being present at this pivotal moment in history. When they left, the shepherds were the first missionaries to proclaim God's promise to humanity. "And all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them." Luke 2:18
As you celebrate this Christmas, I pray that the simplicity of how the shepherds obeyed, searched, and proclaimed will encourage you to tell others about the Good News that arrived for all people.
I pray that you are blessed with health and joy this Christmas Season.
