Look, Your King...

Look, Your King...

“Look, your King is coming.” John 12:15

Imagine the loudest parade or sporting event you ever attended with people screaming, laughing with joy and expectant that great things lay ahead. When Jesus entered Jerusalem, hundreds of people were turned from bystanders to fans giving a standing ovation. Jesus fulfilled a prophecy from hundreds of years earlier as the arriving King (Zechariah 9:9). He was the One coming to save everyone who had faith to believe.

At first a few interested people mingled, then word spread that something special was happening, that someone superior was entering their presence. The crowd grew and enthusiastically and contagiously cheered “God saves”. The elderly heard of this day shared during Passover meals or at other festivals that pointed to the Messiah. Youth followed the example and joined in the shouts of support for this simple man on a donkey. The religious skeptics on hand became even more callous and concerned about what Jesus might do to their people, position of authority and the power they held.

This joyous entry set in motion the most pivotal week in human history. Jesus the Messiah humbly began the final 168 hours of his life that would finish God’s rescue plan to save mankind from being separated from Him by sin and death.

Imagine yourself seeing Jesus for the first time like that crowd receiving Him with joy. This Holy Week take time to reflect on how you welcome Jesus into your life each day. Do you embrace His grace? Do you trust His promise of forgiveness? Have you accepted His invitation to have eternal life?

Each day this week I will post a new scripture sketch and message representing Holy Week. I pray those images and words will encourage you in your faith journey.
