“Your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.” Mark 5:34
After serving as the emcee at a Fellowship of Christian Athletes event, a guest asked if I was ok. I told him that I was fatigued from Multiple Sclerosis (MS) but believed God can heal. His response was: “Amen! I have MS too. Until he does heal us one day, he is holding us!”
Wow, what a great visual of the God who created me (and you) in my mother’s womb (Psalm 139:13), was lovingly holding me during an uncertain time. I am NOT a theologian and don’t want to project that everyone is healed of physical or emotional diseases this side of heaven. The Bible does promise complete healing one day (Revelation 21:4) and is filled with examples of people healed by putting faith in Jesus. One story is of a woman who suffered for 12 years. An outcast with little hope, she sought the Savior she heard about (The Gospel of Mark – Chapter Five). She had childlike faith that Jesus could restore her. Pushing through the crowd her hand extended toward Jesus, she made contact. The woman was instantly healed and freed from her suffering. We don’t know who she told and the others who followed Jesus as a result – but God knew!
Am I completely healed of the MS nerve damage? No. But I have been blessed with today and I will rejoice and be glad in it. Yes, modern medicines and doctors can help and, in some cases, heal. But I will put all my trust in Jesus who will ultimately hold me until I’m healed.
I pray that this art and Bible story encourages you to Follow Jesus and trust Him with all your needs.
